Ummair Alam
Ummair Alam holds an M.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Islamic Studies. His academic and professional interests lie in social policy, minority rights, and governance. Before joining the Sabar Institute, he worked on community development and outreach projects in Kolkata, focusing on inclusive urban development and stakeholder engagement. He also brings experience in digital research, data analysis, and communication strategy from his work in marketing and development organizations. At Sabar Institute, Ummair contributes to research on equity, representation, and social inclusion.

Todi Dutt Mazumder
Todi Dutt Mazumder is a Research Associate at Sabar Institute. She has completed her Master's in Applied Sociology from Christ University, Bangalore after doing a Bachelor's in Sociology (hons) from Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata. She has been associated with Sabar Institute since 2023, as a research intern working in Zakaria Street - its food and migration practices. She later served as a project manager and internship coordinator at the organisation.
She has done her Bachelor's dissertation on Chanderi saree weavers, and completed her Master's dissertation on Generative AI chatbots and state surveillance. Her areas of interest include science and technology studies, gender and sexuality, citizenship.

Sohail Mallick
Currently pursuing a degree in Software Development, Sohail Mallick balances his studies with his work as a Data Assistant at the Sabar Institute. He plays a key role in public policy and economics research, where he specializes in refining raw data into actionable insights through rigorous analysis and presentation. Sohail is passionate about combining his technical programming skills with data science to solve complex, real-world problems.
Youth Mobilizer
Faiz ur Rahman
Faiz ur Rahman is currently pursuing a degree in BA LL.B. Alongside his academic studies, he works as a Youth Mobilizer at the Sabar Institute, where he actively contributes to community development and research-oriented initiatives.
In his role, he conducts meetings, workshops, and awareness sessions to engage with youth and promote social and legal awareness. He is also responsible for data-related tasks, including collecting, cleaning, and organizing information to support research and policy work. Additionally, he manages event logistics such as coordinating venues, attendance, and required materials to ensure smooth execution of programs.
Faiz is also involved in filing Right to Information (RTI) applications for the organization, contributing to transparency, accountability, and access to public information. Through his work, he has developed strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
He has a deep passion for the field of law and aspires to build a career that combines legal expertise with social impact, particularly in areas related to public policy, governance, and community empowerment.
