Dr. Mohammad Reyaz
Dr Mohammad Reyaz is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Aliah University, Kolkata, India.
He was a 2021 Fellow of the Study of the US Institutes (SUSIs) for Scholars on Religious Pluralism hosted at Seattle University. Dr Reyaz has done an ICSSR-IMPRESS sponsored project on ‘Stakes in India’s Soft Power: A Case Study of Afghanistan’ in 2019-2020.
After doing an MA in Convergent Journalism from the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia Milia Islamia University, Dr Reyaz proceeded to specialize in international media with an M.Phil. and a PhD in International Studies from MMA Jauhar Academy of International Studies at the same university in New Delhi.
He has presented papers in national and international seminars. He works on the intersectionality of (new) media, society, and (identity) politics in India and larger Eurasia. His research articles and book chapters have been published by SAGE, Oxford, Routledge, Springer, and Intellect, among others.
He earlier worked as a journalist based out of New Delhi, and his articles have appeared in Al Jazeera, The Wire, Scroll,Tehelka, DailyO, First Post, TwoCircles.net, Madhyamam, and Aponzone Patrika, among others.
